This jutsu allows the user to drain all or most blood from their opponent through any open wounds the user manages to inflict upon their opponent. This jutsu can either lead to massive blood loss causing unconsciousness or death. Kasumi Facts:*Nicknamed the "Crimson Kunoichi"*Smells of vanilla and oranges*Has elongated canines*Will sometimes change her hairstyle as she gets bored easily - sometimes she will feature a side shave, or will dye her hair black*Likes: Fights, swords, blood, fishing, swimming, drinking, smoking flavored cigarettes, walking around without pants, swearing, roughness, sharp teeth, Kisame*Dislikes: Repeating herself, waiting, cry babies, liars, attention seekers, weaklings, leeches *Favorite foods/drinks: Seafood, takoyaki, flavored teas and citrus fruits*Least favorite foods/drink: Onions, melons, asparagus, vealCurrent Affiliation: *Missing Mist Nin - Runs her own mercenary group called the "Yajū" (In English means, "Wild Animals/beasts) in a secret location, deep within a mountain range throughout the Land of Water*Due to large natural deposits of minerals in this certain mountain range, chakra cannot be detected from this location, thus allowing for Kasumi’s group to remain undetected and carry on with their mercenary workPersonality:Sultry, flirtatious, outgoing, blunt, impulsive, sadistic, playful, witty, dark-humored, sarcastic, strongminded, clever* Kasumi has a very playful, battle-loving but darkened personality. She often makes light of serious situations and finds humor in even the bleakest of times. Often you will find the people around her the most, shaking their heads or letting out long sighs of frustration due to her rather upfront comments. * Kasumi -technically- is a neutral candidate, she goes where there is money, and does what she needs to do in order to obtain her full payment. This lifestyle has often marked as a criminal or villain, however, it is not very often she commits heinous acts of violence just because she's in the mood for it. She will gladly accept contracts from either factions. Her ultimate decision making factor usually revolves around who can fork out the biggest paycheck. Kasumi does tend to side with villains more often than not, admitting she does have a certain attraction to power and a “bad boy”.* She is known to be rather vulgar and sleazy within her jokes, often using swears or embarrassing others with sexual absurdities. Kasumi is also a notorious flirt, who frankly, is not afraid to admit it. One would often find themselves met with wink and smirk coming from the crimson haired female, if they just happen to catch the mercenary leader’s attention.* Although she rarely appears to take situations seriously, Kasumi is actually a very committed and loyal person, of course, the catch being, only if you happen to fall onto her good side. Kasumi takes on a “mother hen-like” stature in times of need, and will do anything for her close knit team, including taking the blame for their mistakes or trying to fight on their behalf, when she believes her teammates opponents are just much too powerful to fight alone. Kasumi and her team always complete their missions to the best of their abilities. They never attempt to trick, weasel, or pull the wool over the eyes of whoever they have struck a deal with. This rare honesty in turn, has made her mercenary organization quite popular among the general public. * Although a tad impatient, Kasumi tends to go with a clear mind into battles, her blunt words used as a distraction while she attempts to analyze the situation at hand. Kasumi is a very intelligent individual in combat situations, quickly able to analyze her opponents with ease.* Kasumi tends to be a bit of a klutz or goof outside of fights. When she feels fully comfortable enough to let her guard down, she is known for constantly spilling drinks, breaking plates and even tripping over her own two feet by the simplest of distractions.* Since Kasumi grew up being exiled from her clan and having no real family or friends to turn to, she actually is a rather self-conscious person. She has a very hard time trusting people, creating friendships, accepting herself, and often tries to avoid emotional situations by using humor as an escape goat.Stats: Strong Ninjutsu, Strong Kenjutsu, Medium Medical, Medium Taijutsu, Poor GenjutsuWeapons: The Ketsueki clan katana, which she “inherited/stole” from her father*Katana is called "Naraku" --> the sword is unique in that it's crafted from an extremely light weight material, which gives the blade a black appearance. However, other than that, the weapon possesses no unnatural-like traits*Belt equipped with large blood filled jars around her waist in order for her to utilize her blood release skills during battle*Various throwing knives/kunai/paper bombs/poison powders stored within a few pouches along her outfit Clan History:Kasumi was born into a specialized clan which first made their bloodline known in the Village Hidden in the Mist. These specific nin were gifted with the ability to manipulate blood in any living body. A specialized trait or Kekkei Genkai derived from early water jutsu techniques, due to the high water content of blood. Ketsueki nin are able to use blood as weapons, barriers or cages, forming the crimson liquid into various shapes and sizes, as well as causing extreme blood loss if they are able to make their opponents bleed. Many Ketsueki members are also specialized in medical jutsu’s, due to their expertise in the human body. They are able to close large wounds with ease, change their blood types to act as a "blood donor" in times of critical blood loss, or reattach severed limbs, if the wound is still fresh. Any nin from this “Blood Clan” are often referred to as “Vampires” by the other Mist inhabitants or by any neighboring villages. This nick-name was given to the clan, as they loved nothing more than to use their abilities to cause as much blood loss as possible, very often draining their opponents dry and keeping the blood to use as a weapon during their next battle. It was also rumored, the only way to properly kill a Ketsueki member, was to cut off their head, as this would stop the user from healing their wounds too quickly.
Many people often criticized the Ketseuki clan, believing them to be more monster than man...As well as specializing in blood manipulation, the Ketseuki clan were also very skilled swordsmen and women, it is a common sight to see the nin from this clan with various katana’s and other swords strapped to their bodies. When the Ketsueki clan first made its appearance known in the Mist, many Kiragakure shinbobi clashed with this bloodline. The Ketsueki members were seen as vicious, stubborn, uncooperative and blood thirsty nin who gladly killed at will, their blood lust far higher than any other ninja due to their unique blood bearing properties. When the third Mizukage basically declared genocide on all Kekkei Genkai users, the Ketsueki clan were one of the first to branch away from the Mist’s main village to start their own community. Although some members were killed during the attack, most Ketsueki members were able to slip away from of the Village Hidden within Mist and set up their own village on a small unknown island located within a bog. The Mizukage believed most of the Ketsueki clan had perished during their long journey within the swamp, figuring the stagnant waters stretching for miles offered little to no sustaining qualities. The clan was presumed to have scattered, eventually fading from history, making most information on the Ketsueki clan hard to come by. The clan was able to situate themselves on a small secluded island dispute the rumors of their passing. This island is located deep within a quiet murky bog, many miles away from the main village of the Mist. The island is rich with fertile soils and wildlife due to the many nutrients the dense environment has to offer. The island itself was established within a dreary, small, yet well-fortified area. A forest full of tall gaunt swamp dwelling trees encases the village like a skeletal fist, blocking out most sunlight from the island, and allowing the Ketsueki clan to live without being detected by others. Although they were nicknamed vampires, the Ketsueki clan did not sustain themselves off blood, they in fact ate a diet rich of fish, seafood, wild boars, and other small ruminants that inhabited the island. Animal blood could be extracted out and kept in small bottles or vials in order to use as a weapon during their fights. Most of the skilled members however, preferred to use the blood of their human victims during their battles. The clan was also known for its intense training regimes, often starting to train their kin as soon as the children were able to hold a weapon. The children of the village would be forced into rigorous training camps. Although their numbers were low, this guaranteed the ninja the Ketseuki clan produced were in fact, some of the best fighters in all the land. Adopting the Mist’s Villages bloody teaching styles, Ketsueki clan children were also put against one another in a fight to the death to advance further with their shinobi training. In the past few years however, the outlook on the village began to change within the clan. The newer generations attempted to control their people, struggling to stop all the blood lust and need for battle. Many nin opposed this new outlook, arguing their teaching techniques spat out some of the best shinobi in all of the land. Others however, were quick to join the revelation, as they were beginning to tire at seeing friends or loved ones die by the hands of their own people. Rifts grew between the families within the clan, a small war developing right in midst of their own village as arguments began over the way the clan should be ran. Eventually, through enough bloodshed and battles, a truce was called, and most of the members agreed upon the villages new rules. The clan established they would put an end to the constant need for blood and instead, focus on training their clan with less gruesome teaching styles. The nin who refused to accept the new rules were banished from the village and left to live on their own. Many of the disowned Ketsueki nin were either hunted down by their own members and killed or moved off to join various mercenary groups in order for protection. The nin, however, who remained on the island continued to practice their techniques, but in a much more stable environment. The constant fear of death no longer looming over their heads as they began to train the newer generations with less severity.Kasumi’s grandfather had been the one to call a truce upon his people. Her father now attempting to adopt his teaching styles and pass it onto the current Ketsueki generations, including his own daughter and son. Although the penalty of losing against your opponent or failure during missions was no longer death, he still made sure to work his son and daughter to the bone, hoping they would become two of the most powerful nin in all the lands. He often kept his children secluded, branched away from the other Ketsueki members as he personally trained them or only allowed the most skilled shinobi on the island to help teach. Kasumi and her older brother Saikin, were often forced into grueling training sessions, right from the very moment they could pick up a weapon, their father had begun to teach them the harsh ways of a shinobi. Clan Appearance:The Ketseuki clan are characterized by their pale skin, bright red eyes, sharpened canines and pointed ended nails. They had developed their elongated teeth and nails over time in order for them to be able to rip through flesh more easily. This allowed them to extract the blood needed for their jutsu’s, without having to rely just on the blade of a weapon. Members of the Ketsueki clan are often seen with jet black or brightly colored crimson hair. Due to the change in their environment from the Mist village to their island, the Ketsueki clan also developed formidable night vision. Many clan members did however, suffer during extreme bouts of sunlight, their pale skin and bright eyes being very sensitive to intense forms of light. While venturing out of the village during the light hours, Ketsueki nin covered themselves head to toe in their clan’s uniform.Their uniform consisted of a form fitted scarlet pant and jacket set, embroidered with the clan’s emblem on the back. They wore grey leather shoulder armor, arm guards and tall closed toed boots which were all covered in metal spikes, intended to cause injury to their enemies upon contact. Along their hips, all members are characterized by a belt full of several bottles of blood, which are opened during battle and used for their unique techniques. While not on missions, the Ketseuki clan only dresses themselves in the finest silks and armor money can buy. Although personalities varied, a common trait between the clan was pride. The nin from the village were often confident, boisterous and loud. They took great honor in their abilities as well as themselves, and their appearances.Clan Summoning Jutsu:The animal associated with the clan were bats, due to the constant darkness which blanketed their village. Many bats often inhabited the hollowed out trees surrounding the village and helped themselves to the countless variety of insects that often hid within the boggy area. The nin had fortified a bond with the creatures and some members were even able to summon the winged beasts in order to fight at their sides.Kasumi backstory: Kasumi has always lived a rather awkward life for as long as she could remember, even to this very day. Being the indirect cause of her mother’s death, it created a sense of loss that came as a heavy burden at a very young age. The person who made her feel this encumbrance the most, was her elder brother Saikin. Saikin suffered from loud, frequent emotional outbursts. He would every so often go through deep fits of rage, harboring a strong animosity towards his younger sister, as he felt Kasumi she was the sole reason Kiriyui Ketsueki, his morther, had died shortly after labor.Kiriyui had been a very quiet woman, one who was often criticized as being much “too soft” for being a Ketsueki kunoichi. Avoiding as much battle as she could, Kiriyui specialized in medical jutsu’s due to her own genetic disorder of hemophilia. Being born with her rare condition, it sparked her curiosity and led her to expand her knowledge in the many fields of medical research. Kiriyui took great interest in human anatomy, healing techniques as well as any medical research she could get her petite hands on. She was eventually placed as the top teacher for educating all medical students within the clan, which led to her eventually catching the eye of the clan leaders son at the time, Sensu, even though he was forewarned of her medical condition.
Kiryui had always been diagnosed with Hemophilia, a rare trait in which impairs the body's ability to control blood clotting. Irony at it's fullest, as she belonged to a clan which was built on the basis of blood itself. She was always heavily advised to avoid pregnancy due to the severe complications that could arise with giving birth. However, after successfully giving birth to one son, Sensu always protested against the warnings, arguing that Kiriyui was strong enough to give birth to Saikin, so she clearly would be safe with more offspring to pass their bloodline onto. Sadly, when Kasumi was born, the medical nin could just not control the vast amounts of internal bleeding related to her disorder, which lead to Kiriyui dying shortly after giving birth to their daughter.Kasumi couldn’t help but heed some truth in Saikin’s fiery words, even though deep down she knew there was no real control whether or not she was conceived. The young kunoichi however, attempted to conceal her emotions, much unlike her older, hotheaded brother. Knowing she needed to be clear minded, and free of inner weaknesses to become a skilled kunoichi. Instead, Kasumi would always try her very best to please others around her, pushing away any lingering thoughts about her own issues, and internal struggles. Young Kasumi would even go as far as falsifying her training on purpose, in order to get a laugh out of her brother. Kasumi wanted to have her father re-direct his frustration onto her verses Saikin, as she hated seeing Saikin upset.Even at a young age, Kasumi could sense her brother had mixed feelings about her, often masking his snarl behind an overly exaggerated false smile whenever she apparently did or said something similar to her mother. It got to the point where Kasumi was trying so hard to please her brother, she would often try out a new personality in a weakened attempt to be completely different from her mother. She often dreamed of one day being accepted by her brother, as it was very hard making friends or finding companionship within her clan. Her father, for the most part kept his children secluded from the others. Sensu Ketsueki would always go by his own fathers words, saying it was in their best interests for training purposes. As one day, they could be matched against a potential friend to a fight for the death in order to advance in their shinobi training. Most of Kasumi’s efforts to win over her brother always seemed to fall on deaf ears. No matter how hard she tried, Saikin always appeared to be angry about something going on within their household or clan. The other root of Saikin’s anger was of course, their father. Saikin detested how his father was running the clan, arguing to his father they needed to revert to their old ways to in order to become a force to be reckoned with again. Saikin also despised how his father talked down to him, making him feel as though he was less of a person. Although Kasumi always tried to brighten up the mood, she was often tossed aside or ignored when the two would fight. It became like a trained reflex, where Kasumi would often just run into her room and hide whenever their voices would grow too hostile, as she knew a fight would soon take place.Of course being the wise clan leader he was, Sensu knew Kasumi was distorting her training on purpose. He could tell his daughter was often hiding her true potential in fear of upsetting her brother. This lead Sensu to eventually develop a stronger bond with his daughter, often pulling her aside or taking her on private training lessons, just so she could learn the ways of a ninja without being distracted by her brother.Life did eventually take a turn for the worse for young Kasumi, when Saikin finally did snap and claimed the life of their father. Barely believing what she saw, Kasumi ran on pure instincts and snatched up whatever valuables she could carry before trying to make her escape. Being in her father’s bedroom at the time of the incident, she was able to holster the Ketsueki’s clan leader’s katana, as well as her father’s valuable scrolls, which contained the Ketsueki clans most formidable Jutsu’s. She knew if these two items fell into the hands of her deranged brother, it could potentially lead to further corrupting their clan. Before Kasumi could officially make her escape from the village, her brother had foiled her plans and was able to lodge his chained scythe deep into her shoulder blade. Saikin was able to cause a critical injury upon her for, just before Kasumi had made her final jump through the bedroom window in order to flee for her life. Wounded, inexperienced on her own in the real world, and weak from blood loss, Kasumi knew she needed to get as far as she could from the Ketsueki clan. Taking a short cut through the swamp, which only her people had discovered through their many years of experience, the path brought the young kunoichi close to the main Mist village in only a few hours, verses the days it would have taken for a normal civilian. However, before she could make it to safety, the young kunoichi had fallen unconscious due to severe blood loss, that even she couldn’t stop as a Ketsueki nin.If it wasn’t for kind gesture of a young Mist nin at the time, Kisame Hoshigaki, Kasumi would have surely died that day. By chance, Kisame had been practicing his water jutsu’s near the edge of the water when he had spotted the young female disappear down into the depths of the lake. Knowing he couldn’t just stand by and let her die, Kisame jumped into the cold waters to save the young girl, proving he surely wasn’t just a "monster", a nickname he had sadly earned within the village for his rather unique appearance.Despite his rather cold, and untrusting nature at first, Kisame eventually took to Kasumi. She had been the only person in the entire Mist village that did not judge nor make fun of him for his unique appearance or personality. Surprising even himself at the time, Kisame began spending much of his days in between training visiting Kasumi in the hospital, until she had made a full recovery, and was dismissed. As the months rolled by, the two had developed a strong bond, both relating to one another as neither had no real family or friends to turn to. They became very close friends at a young age, spending their time training, learning, and being rather inseparable for the time being, Kasumi 12 years old at the time, and Kisame 14.Due to her brother eventually sending out search parties to the Village of the Hidden Mist to find her, Kasumi sadly had to leave Kisame in a rather rushed way. Not really sure where she would go, or what would happen to her, she gave Kisame her mother’s necklace as a promise, a promise that she would one day find him again, and renew their friendship. Since that fearful day, Kasumi had never looked back. She completely changed how she viewed herself, as well as others and the world around her. She knew she had to become stronger, strong enough to protect herself from the challenges she would soon have to face. Kasumi continued to train on her own for the most part, using her father’s old weapon and scrolls to advance her skills. She eventually went into care of a generous couple who owned a rather large Inn in the mountains, when it was becoming just too difficult to solely live off the land and picking pockets. As Kasumi continued to grow, she began to work as a waitress on the side. Wanting to pay back the couple, as well as using the extra tip money to hire established shinobi. Any revered ninja who happened to wander into the Inn, Kasumi would approached them afterwards, in order to see if she could enhance her abilities as a skilled kunoichi. When she was finally ready to branch off on her own, Kasumi ended up creating her own mercenary team. After working for the local, low class group for a period of time, she instead took out the main boss. Not liking how he was running the group, or the reputation they had, and in turn, became her own leader. Inspired to create a group different from the rest of the low-life mercenaries out there, she wanted her team to be full of respectable, honorable, and skilled shinobi, which would follow the code, and be able to complete the task at the best of their abilities. She traveled all over the lands to try and recruit the most experienced nin and kunoichi she could get her hands on, going through many members until she was fully satisfied. Of course, this en-devour never really did come as an easy task. Most at first turned her down, not knowing who she was, or why they should bother to waste their time on her. Kasumi had to truly start her way from the very bottom of the barrel, going through countless shinobi until she finally found a well orientated and skillful group of nin willing and honored to work at her side.Eventually, she was declared as a wanted Nin by her brother, a desperate attempt in order to flush her out. This caused Kasumi to take on the alias of the “Crimson Kunoichi”. She began wearing a fully enclosed mask wherever she went, in order to try and conceal her identity. Eventually, her entire mercenary group took to this idea and identified themselves each with a unique animal-like disguise to hide their identities. The name they had eventually chosen for their unique band of shinobi were, the “Yajū” – meaning “Wild Animals”, in representation of their unique masks and varied personalities. From there on end, Kasumi is continually persistent with her life as the mercenary leader. She continues to take in requests from all over the lands, proving the worth of her mercenary group. Of course, all through this time, she still continues to try and locate the notorious Kisame, never wanting to break her promise to him.
